🥛 GOAT MILK IN THE KITCHEN
🍎 Creamy Goat Milk Caramel Apple Dip
Fall is just around the corner and you know what that means...
Apple season! 🍎🍂
And around here, if there's a way to add a little goat milk goodness to a recipe, you know we're probably going to try it.
For our very first Goat Milk in the Kitchen, we're starting with something simple, sweet, and perfect for fall:
Creamy Goat Milk Caramel Apple Dip
It's smooth, sweet, creamy, and made for dipping crisp apple slices.
But don't let the name fool you.
Apples are only the beginning!
Try it with pretzels, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, strawberries, sliced bananas—or, if nobody is looking, a spoon.
We won't judge. 😉
🐐 Why Goat Milk?
One of the things we want to do with Goat Milk in the Kitchen is show that goat milk isn't just something you drink.
It can be used in many of the same ways you would use cow's milk in the kitchen.
In a recipe like caramel dip, goat milk adds dairy richness while giving us another delicious way to use something produced by one of our favorite animals.
And if you've only ever associated goat milk with soap, lotion, or cheese, we hope this series gives you a few surprises!
Now...
Let's make some caramel!
🍎 Creamy Goat Milk Caramel Apple Dip
What You'll Need
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup goat milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
For serving:
- Fresh apple slices
- Pretzels
- Graham crackers
- Vanilla wafers
- Strawberries
- Bananas
Let's Make It!
1. Melt the butter.
Add the butter to a medium saucepan over medium-low heat and allow it to melt.
2. Add the brown sugar and goat milk.
Stir in the brown sugar and goat milk until everything is well combined.
3. Bring on the caramel goodness.
Continue cooking over medium-low to medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture is smooth and begins to gently bubble.
4. Let it thicken.
Cook for approximately 3–5 minutes, stirring continuously. The caramel should begin to thicken slightly.
Remember that it will continue to thicken as it cools, so don't worry if it seems a little thin while it's hot.
5. Add the finishing touches.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla and salt.
6. Cool and serve.
Let your caramel cool until it's comfortably warm before serving.
Then grab those apples and...
DIP! 🍎
🍏 Which Apples Are Best?
This is where you can have some fun.
A tart apple gives you a wonderful sweet-and-tangy combination, while a sweeter apple makes the whole thing feel more like dessert.
Try:
Granny Smith – Tart, crisp, and fantastic with sweet caramel.
Honeycrisp – Sweet, juicy, and super crunchy.
Gala – Mild and sweet.
Fuji – Very sweet and crisp.
Can't decide?
Use two or three varieties and make an apple dipping board!
✨ Make It Your Own
Once you've made the basic dip, there are plenty of ways to dress it up.
Try topping your caramel with:
- Chopped pecans
- Mini chocolate chips
- Toffee pieces
- A sprinkle of cinnamon
- Crushed pretzels
- Flaky sea salt
You could even put several toppings into little bowls and let everyone create their own caramel apple bites.
That's an easy fall treat for family movie night, a Halloween party, Thanksgiving gathering, or just because it's Tuesday and you decided Tuesday needed caramel.
We fully support that decision.
🐐 Goat Milk Kitchen Tip
When you're cooking with goat milk, gentle heat is your friend.
For creamy sauces and desserts, avoid unnecessarily high heat and stir regularly. This helps keep the mixture smooth while the flavors come together.
And just like other milk, goat milk can scorch if left sitting over too much heat.
Translation:
Don't start the caramel and then wander off to see what the goats are doing.
Trust us.
They're probably standing on something anyway. 😂🐐
❤️ From Our Kitchen to Yours
Food has a funny way of bringing people together.
Sometimes it's an elaborate holiday dinner.
Sometimes it's a treasured family recipe.
And sometimes it's just a bowl of warm caramel surrounded by apple slices while everyone keeps saying:
“Okay...just ONE more.”
That's what we want Goat Milk in the Kitchen to be about.
We'll experiment.
We'll share recipes.
We'll talk about different ways to cook and bake with goat milk.
We'll definitely make some sweets.
And yes...
There will be fudge.
Lots of fudge. 😉
